About Einar

Einar Hugi earned his Master of Law degree (Mag. Jur.) from the University of Iceland in 2005. He obtained his license to practice before the District Courts in 2006 and was granted the right of audience before the Supreme Court of Iceland in 2012.

Einar Hugi is one of the partners at Lögfræðistofa Reykjavíkur ehf. He worked at Mörkin Law Firm from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, he co-founded the Icelandic Law Firm (Íslenska lögfræðistofan) where he worked until 2014. From 2014 to 2017, Einar co-managed Atlas Lawyers (Atlas lögmenn).

Einar Hugi has served on the boards of numerous companies for both short and extended periods, most often in connection with his legal practice. Since 2013, he has also been a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland.

In addition, Einar has participated in various committees appointed by public authorities. In 2013, he was appointed to an expert group tasked with assessing the principal reduction of inflation-indexed housing loans and the pros and cons of a debt relief fund. In early 2014, he was appointed to a task force on housing loan principal reductions, which drafted legislative bills concerning the correction of indexed mortgage loans and the use of private pension savings for mortgage payments. In 2015, Einar was appointed to the Constitutional Committee (2013–2017). In November 2018, he was appointed chairman of a working group tasked with proposing amendments to the Media Act No. 38/2011, regarding reimbursement of part of the government’s media costs.
